Chargers Get Bad News on Kenneth Murray Injury Update
The Los Angeles Chargers were without linebacker Kenneth Murray for six games during the 2021 season as he spent time on the injured reserve with an ankle injury. The latest update provided by the 23-year-old himself via Instagram shows that he recently underwent surgery to fix the nagging issue.

The picture Murray posted shows himself in the hospital with a major cast on his leg. He mentioned the surgery was a success and that he will be back on the field soon. While the two-year pro did not provide a concrete timetable for his return, it's safe to say this will impact his offseason training.
Not only did Murray only play in 11 games this past season, but he was in and out of the starting lineup when healthy (6 starts). The 2020 first-round pick finished the year with 31 tackles (2.0 for loss) after posting 107 tackles alongside 3 pass breakups in what was an impressive rookie campaign.
The Chargers have yet to release a statement regarding Murray's status despite this being the second consecutive offseason surgery for him (shoulder in 2021). LA let fellow LB Kyzir White walk in free agency, which goes to show the level of trust they have in the former Oklahoma standout.
LA's front office has gone all-in on winning a title this offseason by signing cornerback J.C. Jackson and trading for linebacker Khalil Mack. Getting Murray back to full health should be next up on the to-do list for a team that has odds set at +1500 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
