PFF Projects Absolute Steal for Cardinals in Latest Mock Draft

The 2021 NFL Draft is just over two weeks away. Teams are focused on which players they'll select with the end goal being to compete for the Super Bowl sometime in the near future.

One of those teams happens to be the Arizona Cardinals. They finished the 2020 NFL Season with an 8-8 record, missing the playoffs for the ninth time since 2010. However, the Cardinals do have a solid foundation and just need to build on that if they want to be successful. The draft is their next chance of doing that.

Cardinals Mock Draft - Jaylen Waddle

In the latest mock draft for Pro Football Focus, Sam Monson has the Cardinals getting an absolute steal with the No. 16 pick. He has them drafting WR Jaylen Waddle out of Alabama.

While the Cardinals will begin the NFL season with DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green and Christian Kirk as their receiving core, they could use some extra depth as no one knows whether or not Larry Fitzgerald will be retiring.

Jaylen Waddle has spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide. In 34 games, he's made 106 receptions for 1,999 yards and 17 touchdowns. One of Waddle's most dangerous weapons is his speed, with Monson even comparing him to Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill. If that even ends up being remotely true and the Cardinals combine that speed with Kyler Murray's decent arm strength, things could get exciting in Arizona.

Aside from physical talents and impressive stat lines, Waddle has also shown a winner's mentality. He's a two-time All-SEC player and helped Alabama win the 2020 National Championship. If Waddle can translate his success to the NFL level, he would be a steal for the Cardinals in the first round of the draft.

The current over/under for Waddle's draft position, according to odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, is set at 11.5.
