Cardinals Still Being Disrespected by ESPN MLB Power Rankings
By Max Staley

The St. Louis Cardinals just never to seem to get the respect they deserve. At 17-15, the team is currently second in the NL Central and sits just 1.5 games behind the division-leading Chicago Cubs.
Despite that, ESPN put St. Louis at No. 14 overall in its latest power rankings. That's way too low for a team as talented as the Cardinals.
In fact, St. Louis is ranked lower than any other team with a winning record.
Jack Flaherty has started 20 games since July 7th, 2019. Here are his stats.

9-3
125 IP
1.08 ERA
0.71 WHIP
147 strikeouts
28 walks
It's not like the Cardinals' wins have been fluky, either. St. Louis has a plus-26 run differential, which is the ninth-best total in baseball. It's also much better than Chicago's run differential (plus-9).
The Cardinals' dominant pitching stat has a lot to do with that. St. Louis has a 3.48 team ERA, which is currently the third-best total in baseball.
The offense certainly needs to improve, but St. Louis is just too talented to be ranked as the 14th-best team in baseball.
