Rumors Link Browns to Big-Name Edge Rusher Ahead of Free Agency
The Cleveland Browns entered the offseason looking to improve on defense. Changes started immediately, with veteran coach Jim Schwartz being hired as the team's new defensive coordinator.
Now free agency provides Cleveland a chance to add some new personnel. And the Browns have already been linked to a big-name defender.
Tim McManus of ESPN reports Cleveland is one team interested in pending Philadelphia Eagles free agent Brandon Graham. Though the veteran would like to return to Philly, the Eagles' cap constraints could open up the door for the Browns to poach him.
Pursuing Graham makes a ton of sense on multiple fronts for the Browns. He's an experienced and accomplished veteran that could help mentor Cleveland's young talent. He likely won't command a ton at 35 years old and being a rotational player at this point in his career. And he has a connection to Schwartz, who was his coordinator for five seasons in Philly.
Graham is also coming off of his strongest year as a pro yet, racking up a career-high 11.0 sacks in 2022.
Though he's older, it's clear the 2022 Pro Bowl selection still has plenty left in the tank. He could form a deadly duo with Myles Garrett, especially with Jadeveon Clowney expected to exit this offseason.
