The Denver Broncos' roster has simply been devastated by injuries throughout the 2022 season. Their health woes have been felt especially on defense, with several players currently banged up or on the injured reserve list.
Now it turns out another key piece will be sidelined for a chunk of time.
Mike Klis of 9NEWS reports linebacker Jonas Griffith will be out an "extended period" with a foot injury. The second-year pro reaggravated the issue in practice this week, and it sounds like he could be an IR candidate.
This is just brutal news for Denver. Griffith has been a reliable presence for this defense, playing in all nine games so far and logging eight starts. He's already set a career high with three QB hits in 2022 and tied his rookie year mark of 46 total tackles.
The hits just keep coming for the Broncos' linebacker corps. LBs Randy Gregory, Christopher Allen and Aaron Patrick are all on IR, while Baron Browning has been sidelined since Week 7.
Denver will have to overcome its injury troubles to get a win on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Broncos are 2.5-point home favorites ahead of that contest, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
