Brewers Trade Rumors: Trevor Story Linked to Milwaukee

The 2021 MLB trade deadline is right around the corner and one of the most popular trade candidates remains Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story. The two-time All-Star has been linked to a number of different teams and it seems like the Milwaukee Brewers are ready to make a move.

According to Nick Groke and Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Brewers have become a trade destination for Story. Of course, the Rockies are going to be open to listening to any offers that come their way. However, Milwaukee would be smart to get talks underway before other teams do.

Although the Brewers have already traded for another shortstop this season in Willy Adames, they did lose starting third baseman Travis Shaw due to a potentially season-ending shoulder injury. That leaves an open spot in the infield as replacement starter Luis Urias has not been impressive.

Story is in the midst of another exceptional season as he is hitting .259/.332/.444 with 8 home runs and 32 RBI across 63 games played. He has also racked up 36 runs scored and 13 stolen bases. The 28 year old is playing on an expiring contract and makes a perfect fit for a postseason contender like Milwaukee.

If the Brewers want to keep up with the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central division, they need to make a move. Adding Story to this lineup would make it balanced from top to bottom as the Brewers sit tied for first in the NL Central with Chicago at 42-33 overall.
