As the 2022 MLB season rolls on, Milwaukee Brewers fans wonder when starting pitcher Freddy Peralta will make his return from the injured list. The talented righty was sidelined on May 22 due to a right lat strain but has been making progress in his recovery over the last few weeks.
Fortunately, the Brewers received encouraging news following Peralta's Triple-A Nashville rehab start on Saturday. Throwing 52 pitches over 3.1 innings, the 26-year-old Dominican struck out five batters while allowing only one run on three hits.
Freddy Peralta Injury Update
The most encouraging part of Peralta's latest rehab start is that it's evident that his stamina has improved. He only threw 33 pitches over two innings in his first rehab appearance on July 24, so he's well on his way to working back to his MLB form. Nevertheless, he'll need a few more starts before then.
Whenever he makes his return, the hope is that Peralta can pitch more like he did when he became an All-Star for the first time in 2021. He struggled with consistency before his IL stint began, going 3-2 with a 4.42 ERA in eight starts.
The silver lining is that Peralta is capable of being better than his stats indicate. He's still striking out 11.6 batters per nine innings and his 1.190 WHIP is the second-best mark of his five-year career. If he can get past any mental blockades when he's back in Milwaukee's rotation, the Brewers will be a better team for it.
Brewers World Series Odds
The Brewers need Peralta to be back in top form if they want to capitalize on their 2022 World Series odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. As it stands, Milwaukee owns the eighth-best odds (+2500) to its first championship title in franchise history.
