The Buffalo Bills were down a couple of starters in the secondary against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3, and it showed as the defense gave up 14.3 yards per completion to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during a 21-19 defeat. To make matters worse, rookie cornerback Christian Benford went down in the loss with a fractured hand.

Buffalo Bills Injury News

Benford was forced to leave the game midway through the second quarter and came out of halftime with a heavily wrapped hand. The 22-year-old was able to take the field on a few special teams snaps, but did not play on defense for the rest of the game. Benford is now expected to miss a few weeks.

It's a tough reality for a player that had looked impressive through his first three NFL starts. Benford logged 6 tackles (1 for loss) and 1 pass breakup while only allowing 4 of the 7 pass attempts thrown his way to be completed. He joins teammates Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer as key defensive injuries for Buffalo.

Once Benford left the game on Sunday, the Bills turned to Ja'Marcus Ingram to take more snaps. The undrafted free agent was originally only elevated from the practice squad for depth purposes but was quickly thrust into a more prominent role by necessity.

Bills vs Ravens Week 4 Odds

The NFL schedule isn't doing Buffalo any favors here. Up next is a road matchup against the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson, who leads the NFL with 10 passing touchdowns this season. Despite their Week 3 loss and recent injury woes, the Bills are still listed as 3.5-point road favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
