The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense was looking like one of the most dangerous ones in the NFL heading into the 2020 season, and a big part of that was the emergence of star wide receiver Chris Godwin.
Disappointingly, Godwin has played only two games so far, and he has been on the shelf with a hamstring injury since Week 3. Bucs fans get some great news on Tuesday though, as he's finally back to running on the practice field.
Godwin did not practice at all ahead of the Bucs' Week 5 Thursday Night Football meeting with the Chicago Bears, and this is a huge step in his recovery.
He's clearly not running at full speed as he eases back into things, but just seeing him out there in a practice jersey has got to raise Bucs fans' spirits.
Godwin missed Week 2 while he was in the concussion protocol, but in two games he has racked up 11 receptions, 143 yards and 1 touchdown. With Tom Brady looking increasingly comfortable in Bruce Arians' offense, Godwin's return should lead to some explosive production.
The Bucs draw a tough matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 6, and it would be a huge help to have Godwin back on the field.
Despite this positive injury update, however, it looks like Godwin still has some major hurdles to clear (like getting back to full-speed workouts) before he can be considered a safe bet to return on Sunday.
