Best Remaining Cornerbacks for the Lions to Target in Free Agency
By Tristan Jung

After the Detroit Lions traded away cornerback Darius Slay, all eyes have been focused on who they can add as a replacement. The Lions were one of the worst defenses in the NFL last year, a major factor in their 3-12-1 record during 2019.
This offseason, the Lions' brain trust will be targeting several defensive additions in the 2020 NFL Draft and free agency. Jeffrey Okudah is a likely target with the No. 3 overall pick, but it's going to take more than one player to fix this secondary. With that in mind, here are three of the best remaining cornerback options for the Lions in free agency.
1. Logan Ryan
With the Lions still possessing plenty of cap room, signing Logan Ryan could make sense. Ryan is asking for a multi-year contract, but he was a solid performer for the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans and would be a huge upgrade for Detroit. He could immediately slot in as the Lions No. 1 cornerback and provide some much-needed stability.
2. Prince Amukamara
Veteran cornerback Prince Amukamara would be another strong addition for the Lions. While consistency isn't his strong suit, his physical talent and knack for the big play would immediately provide a huge improvement on this Lions' defense. Amukamara has had some issues staying healthy throughout his career, but the relatively low cost in free agency could make him a compelling option.
3. Darqueze Dennard
Darqueze Dennard is a veteran slot cornerback who would offer valuable depth for a thin Lions secondary. The former Cincinnati Bengal is still on the market after a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars fell apart, and he would be a great value add for the Lions given their cap space and his asking price. Dennard only played five games last year, but when he's healthy, he's proven himself to be a solid cornerback who can cover the field with ease. The Lions could add him and another cornerback in the draft to lock up the position for the next few years.
