Bengals Add Former Pro Bowl Safety to Practice Squad

The Cincinnati Bengals' secondary is beat up, to say the least. Week 4's injury report included three cornerbacks and safety Jessie Bates. Regardless, this team keeps winning and improved to a solid 3-1 start to the 2021 campaign.
However, the Bengals understand the need to get healthy and made a move to do so on Tuesday. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that Cincinnati signed former Pro Bowl safety Michael Thomas to the practice squad.

Bates missed Week 4 action with a neck injury, and although head coach Zac Taylor expects him to return to practice this week, the addition of Thomas is a safe backup plan.
Thomas last appeared in 9 games for the Houston Texans in 2020. He's primarily operated a depth option throughout his eight-year NFL career, recording a career-high 13 starts for the Miami Dolphins in 2015.
His Pro Bowl season came with the New York Giants in 2018, where he started 6 games and recorded 2 interceptions, 6 passes defended and 59 total tackles.
The Bengals prepare for a Week 5 matchup hosting the Green Bay Packers. Cincinnati enters the contest as 3-point home underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
