Bears Linked to Buzzy Prospect Ahead of Draft

The Chicago Bears have been very active this offseason, signing several notable free agents and making a huge trade involving the No. 1 pick. Following this flurry of activity, fans are curious to see who the team selects in the draft to supplement this roster with young talent.

It turns out one prospect who's generating recent buzz could end up being a late-round target for the Bears.

Ryan Fowler of the Draft Network reports Penn State offensive lineman Juice Scruggs has earned increased attention in league circles during the pre-draft process. Chicago is one of several teams that recently met with the Nittany Lions stud, which could foreshadow a partnership.

Scruggs took on a starting role at Penn State in 2021 primarily at right guard, allowing just two sacks across 926 snaps. He got even better in 2022, giving up only one sack after switching to center.

The O-lineman's flexibility certainly could be an asset at the next level. He pairs that with massive size at 6-foot-3, 301 pounds, giving him a pro-ready frame to battle against interior defenders at the next level.

Current projections see Scruggs being a seventh-round pick, so it wouldn't cost the Bears much to take a chance on the former Nittany Lion. Chicago has six Day 3 selections in its pocket ahead of April, which presents the perfect opportunity to find the next diamond-in-the-rough player.
