Astros Get Concerning Yordan Alvarez Injury Update From Spring Training

The Houston Astros head into their official Spring Training exhibition with confidence brewing from their 2022 World Series win. But, that also brings plenty of expectations for the franchise that's dominated the last five years of MLB baseball.
They'll rely on superstar Yordan Alvarez to keep his slugging bat powering a high-octane offense. Unfortunately, he's dealing with a slightly concerning injury at the beginning of camp.
Yordan Alvarez said he has some left hand soreness and is currently not swinging a bat. He said he plans to start swinging again in a couple days.

According to Astros insider Chandler Rome, Alvarez has experienced some left hand soreness. He's not swinging a bat as a result, but will resume his normal schedule in a couple of days.
On the surface level, this is a minor issue and presents no major concern. But, this has been a lingering issue for one of the league's best hitters.
Alvarez dealt with a recurring injury in the same hand throughout the 2022 campaign. This limited him to just 135 games throughout the season. Considering Alvarez smacked 37 home runs and 97 RBIs in that span, a fully healthy season would result in monster numbers.
The hope is Alvarez' current hand issue is just a blip on the radar for 2023, and not a recurring issue throughout the regular season.
