The defending World Series champion Houston Astros have had a busy offseason retooling their roster for another deep postseason run. There's one pressing item on the agenda left to do, though. Houston has yet to fill their vacant general manager position after the franchise opted to part ways with James Click.

Houston added an accomplished name to their GM search on Tuesday.

According to a report from Jon Heyman, and confirmed by Astros insider Chandler Rome, Houston has "spoken to" Cleveland Guardians assistant GM James Harris about the role.

It's unclear how the talks went, but safe to say adding a member of Cleveland's front office is very on-brand for Houston. Both clubs operate on a similar level. They excel at identifying, drafting and developing young talent. Houston's a bit more accomplished given their recent dynastic run, but it's that mentality of operating as a mid-budget team and continually over-producing with October results.

Harris has been with the Guardians since 2016. The franchise has made the postseason in five of those seven seasons, including their surprising 92-win season this past year.
