Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton has been placed on the COVID-reserve list, ruling him out for the team's Week 9 game. This move will put either Ben DiNucci or Cooper Rush at QB for Dallas on Sunday.

Obviously, that's bad news for the Cowboys' skill-position players' fantasy football outlooks, but Amari Cooper is probably taking the biggest hit of the bunch.

Amari Cooper Fantasy Outlook

Cooper was a set-it-and-forget-it WR1 when Dak Prescott was with the team, ranking as the overall WR1 in PPR formats over the first four weeks of the season. His value took a significant hit once Prescott was ultimately ruled out for the year, but he still offered some WR2 appeal with Andy Dalton at the helm. In his lone full game with Dalton, Cooper caught 7 passes for 79 yards and a TD.

But in his first full game without Dalton or Prescott at QB, Cooper was held to 1 catch for 5 yards on just 5 targets. There's no clear-cut update on when Dalton can be expected back in the lineup, but the combination of a concussion and a reportedly positive COVID test means he could be out for the next few weeks.

It's going to be difficult to view Cooper as anything more than a boom-or-bust WR3 while Dalton is out, and you'll probably never feel good about playing him without the Red Rifle. He's definitely talented enough to overcome poor QB play at times, but fantasy managers need to adjust their expectations.

Cooper is no longer the WR1 he was drafted to be, and he won't even be a WR2 until Dalton returns.
