While Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be generally unhappy with his front office, he might not complain about a lack of weapons for much longer. Not to mention the insane raise of wideout Davante Adams as the best receiver in football, but Green Bay also went out to find a true slot receiver in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Packers took Clemson wide receiver Amari Rodgers in the third round to help fill a void that's been present since the departure of Randall Cobb after the 2018 season. Rodgers fits the perfect mold of Green Bay's next slot receiver and should be poised to make some noise heading into the 2021 season. With that in mind, there's a lot of new hype surrounding the potential fantasy outlook of Rodgers.
Recently, The Athletic called Rodgers their pick for the best Packers 2021 breakout candidate.
Amari Rodgers Fantasy Outlook
Rodgers got out to a relatively slow start during his four years with the Clemson Tigers. But then, the 2020 season came, and Rodgers' chemistry with No. 1 draft pick Trevor Lawrence exploded. In 2020, Rodgers caught 77 balls for 1,020 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns.
He's a speed-first wideout who also poses a threat on special teams. Although this won't factor into a fantasy pick for your defense and special teams, his success in the return game just proves his blazing speed. In 2018, Rodgers led the ACC and finished fourth in the NCAA with 299 punt return yards.
Currently, Rodgers is projecting as WR95 according to FantasyPros' Average Draft Position (ADP) data. He'll be a sleeper pick in any fantasy draft this season, but definitely could be worth a flyer in the later rounds.
