The three-man AL Cy Young race remains from last month, but the new leader is Lance Lynn. The Chicago White Sox veteran has taken over the lead (-170) in the odds at FanDuel Sportsbook from New York Yankees season-long leader Gerrit Cole (+300) and White Sox teammate Carlos Rodon (+430).
Lynn was +550 to win the American League Cy Young award at the start of July, but he continues to pace the AL Central-leading White Sox along Rodon. Lynn is 10-3 with a whopping 2.07 ERA. The 34-year-old has also posted career-bests with a 1.05 WHIP and .200 batting average against.
Rodon (8-5) has a 2.49 ERA and a slightly better WHIP (0.96) and BAA (1.92). But the lefty lost his grip on the lead in his final two starts of July, taking the loss in each after allowing 8 runs in 8 innings.
Gerrit Cole had been the season-long front-runne, but he started struggling and has a 4.68 ERA in 10 starts since the start of June. Now he's been placed on COVID-IL and his odds are trending in the wrong direction with him sidelined.
Here's a look at the top pitchers according to the American League Cy Young odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
