Now that the Super Bowl LIII matchup is officially set with the Los Angeles Rams playing the New England Patriots, it's time to get down to the hundreds of prop bets for this year's big game.

And what would Super Bowl prop bets be without, of course, the ones surrounding the national anthem and its upcoming performer?

Who is singing the Super Bowl national anthem?

Gladys Knight is singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, which will play a big role in how people bet on the performance. Perhaps, the most popular among these national anthem prop bets is that of the over/under on the time it will take to perform.

Spanning all 10 previous performances, the time taken to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" has averaged exactly 120.4 seconds (or 2 minutes and 0.4 seconds). In fact, that average is relatively more stable upon even closer examination.

Interestingly enough, the average length of the five most recent performances (120 seconds) compared to the average duration of the previous five (120.8 seconds) both come out to within one second of each other.

There's also another noticeable trend when you look at previous performances by singers from a similar R&B and Soul genre to Knight's music style. Jennifer Hudson (2018) and Alicia Keys (2014) are the only two primary R&B / Soul singers to perform on this list, and the two of their performances combine for an average length of 142.5 seconds (or 2 minutes and 22.5 seconds)

Every artist to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, of course, has their own unique tempo and style. However, it'd be wise to remember the two most recent R&B / Soul singers to perform have averaged more than 22 seconds longer than the previous 10 performers' total average (120.4 seconds).
