Outback Bowl Betting Trends & Stats

- Mississippi State has been strong against the spread this season, going 8-4 ATS. Iowa hasn't been far behind at 7-5 ATS on the year.

- The Bulldogs have hit the under in 81.8 percent of games with betting totals this season (2-9), which is the second-most of all FBS team in the country. Meanwhile, Iowa has hit the over in eight of its 12 games this season (75 percent).

- Iowa will be without one of its best offensive weapons in tight end Noah Fant, who joined a laundry list of college football players sitting out bowl games to prepare for the 2019 NFL Draft.

- Iowa and Mississippi State have never met one another on the football field before, but Iowa is 1-3 against the SEC in its last four bowl games.

- Mississippi State's defense has allowed just 12 touchdowns to opponents all season.

- Away Team (Iowa) Total: Under 18.5 Points (-110) – Iowa has built an uncharacteristically-stronger offense this season compared to previous years, scoring 30.9 points per game. But Mississippi State boasts the No. 1 scoring defense in the country, allowing only 12.5 PPG this season. The Bulldogs have allowed more than 18.5 points only three times all year, and one of those came holding Alabama's No. 2 scoring offense to its fewest points all season (24).

- Home Team (Mississippi State) Total: 25.5 Points (-110) – Similar to Mississippi State, Iowa's defense is one of the best of the nation too. The Hawkeyes are allowing 17.7 PPG on the season and 14 PPG over their last three games. The MSU offense isn't stellar either, averaging just 26 PPG. But the Bulldogs have kicked it into high gear lately, scoring 35-plus points in three of the last four regular-season games.
