This NFL season has been nothing short of a wild ride. It's only fitting that the best and brightest continued to throw us some curves as the year winded down.

While many of the biggest names in football fell short this week, one star shined above everyone else as he catapulted himself into first place in an extremely tight MVP race.

Pat Mahomes has the best odds according to Fanduel Sportsbook.

After his dramatic comeback against the Ravens, you can't be surprised here.

Mahomes' big day with 377 yards and two touchdowns to help Kansas City take down Baltimore in overtime was special, but you also have to acknowledge the dominance of the Rams. Three of the top six highest odds belong to Los Angeles as Todd Gurley, Jared Goff, Aaron Donald have all had fantastic seasons.

Patrick Mahomes' stats for this season are 4,300 yards passing, 43 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He's also added 2 rushing touchdowns.

Drew Brees' stats for this season area 3,463 yards passing, 31 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He's run in 4 touchdowns as well.

Still, this is a what have you done for me lately kind of league. Philip Rivers had a bland game against a bad Bengals team, the Rams were completely manhandled by the Bears, and Drew Brees has been human the last two weeks. Mahomes was a stud while everyone else struggled. That's what makes him the top dog.

Another thing to note out of the latest odds is the lack of Aaron Rodgers on the list at all. He may have an absurd no-pick streak going, but that's not enough to ignore the Packers' terrible season. Big Ben, Cam Newton, Carson Wentz, CMC, JJ Watt, Russell Wilson, Saquon Barkley, and even Tyreek Hill all have odds posted by Fanduel Sportsbook. All of them are deserving of at least a mention, but Rodgers is not.

It's hard to imagine any of those players passing Mahomes as it's impossible to ignore how fantastic he's been. But with three more weeks left in the season, anything is possible.
