David Johnson has had a solid season so far, but he hasn't produced like the matchup-proof fantasy running back everyone expected him to be. However, his performance over the past two weeks may be a sign of good things to come down the stretch, and Johnson himself actually agrees.

In an interview with the Arizona Republic, Johnson said that he believes his recent performances are a good sign that he'll have a much larger role in the Cardinals' offense going forward.

It's bold, but you can't help but buy into Johnson's optimism. The back has been much more effective under new offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, averaging 141.5 yards per contest in the two games Leftwich called the plays on offense.

Johnson, who owns the second-easiest remaining schedule for running backs, is primed for a dominant stretch run, starting with a great matchup this weekend against an Oakland Raiders defense that's yielded the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs this season. As long as he continues to produce RB1 numbers, there's a very good chance his owners can ride him to a championship.
