The game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams in Mexico City on Monday is possibly the most anticipated NFL regular season game in years. While it will surely be an entertaining game, it's already hit historic levels even before kickoff.

The previous high over/under was 62 points in 2009 for a game between the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers. That game ended with a combined point total of 58.

A total of 64 points is a lot for an NFL game, but with the Chiefs averaging 35.3 points per game and the Rams averaging 33.5, it feels about right for this matchup.

In Week 10, three games had point totals over 64 and the Rams were one of those games, defeating the Seahawks 36-31. The other two games were blowouts: the Steelers 52-21 victory over the Panthers and the Saints 51-14 win over the Bengals.

The interesting factor here comes in the fact that the game is in Mexico City, which is basically equivalent to playing a game in Denver altitude wise. So players may be a bit more out of breath than usual. The previous two Mexico City games have only averaged 44 total points.

Even if the game can't live up to its lofty billing, the Rams and Chiefs will surely still put on a show.
