It's been over a month now since William Creighton, the owner of Costa Rica-based 5Dimes Sportsbook, was kidnapped, and local authorities have very little to show for their efforts.

Creighton's family apparently paid upwards of $1 million in ransom through Bitcoin without securing his release and there is now suspicion that he may have been murdered by his kidnappers, according to some reports. He was last seen leaving his office on the night of Sept. 24.

Sounds like something out of a bad movie, right?

There hasn't been much traction in the investigation so far, but the U.S. Department of State is now involved and continues to work with the local authorities as they carry out their search efforts.

Hopefully, now that the U.S. government is involved, Creighton's family can finally get the answers they're desperately looking for.
