Dalvin Cook has had a very underwhelming 2018 season, mostly due to injury, but he hasn't exactly been stellar while on the field either.
When the day started, the Minnesota Vikings were optimistic Cook would play. He went out for a pre-game workout to see how his injured hamstring would react.
Vikings’ RB Dalvin Cook, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a hamstring injury, is expected to play against the Cardinals, though it will be for only about half the offensive snaps, if that, per source. Cook still is not 100 percent.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 14, 2018
Needless to say, things did not go as they had hoped.
Vikings’ RB Dalvin Cook’s pregame workout did not go well today. Hamstring acted up. And so even though the Vikings planned for him to be active, he now is inactive.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 14, 2018
With Cook out, the Vikings will most likely struggle to run the ball again. They become a very pass-heavy team when Cook is on the sideline, touching a play-percentage breakdown of over 70 percent passing plays in a few of the games Cook has been out.
Normally when a starting running back goes out you turn to their backup as a potential fantasy play, but not with the Vikings. Latavius Murray has done virtually nothing this year, even with Cook sidelined.
At this point, it's best to leave all Vikings running backs on the bench in any format.
