For those in the need of a tight-end savior, you may finally have one in Greg Olsen.

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is hopeful he'll be ready to play this Sunday against the Washington Redskins.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton may have his favorite target back much sooner than we were expecting.

Olsen has been out since Week 1 of the season with a foot injury and has just two catches to his name thus far this year. After being healthy for his whole career, the former Pro Bowler has dealt with numerous injuries over the last two seasons, playing in only eight games over that span.

The veteran tight end still has to undergo tests but could return to practice as early as Wednesday. Despite the positive outlook surrounding the tight end, he's not out of the woods just yet. This injury is still lingering as he's admitted he'll have to get a second surgery at some point.

This week will be a huge sign when it comes to Olsen's production the rest of the season. If he can't compete at a top level like normal, he might consider shutting himself down and opting for surgery sooner than later.

You don't need another Olsen injury in your life, so keep close tabs on the tight end's developing status this week.
