J.D. Martinez has been an absolute monster for the Boston Red Sox in 2018, but he may have signed with the wrong team if he wanted to make baseball history this season.

With a .320 average, 42 homers and 127 RBI on the year, Martinez is firmly among the top three leaders in each Triple Crown statistical category. Pretty impressive, all things considered, but the numbers he's put up this year would have made him the first National League Triple Crown winner since 1937.

As if we needed to put his season in an even more impressive context.

Despite missing out on the opportunity to make MLB history, Martinez is still having an MVP-caliber season on a dominant Red Sox team. I'm pretty sure that he, and every single one of his fantasy owners, are quite satisfied with his incredible season.
