Week 3 of the NFL season was the first week of multiple shocking upsets in 2018. Lions over Patriots, Redskins over Packers and ultimately an unbelievable 27-6 Bills victory over the Vikings.

It was a brutal game for Minnesota, which came into the matchup favored by 16.5 points and lost by 21, which provided us with a 37.5 point swing by the end of the game. For those who didn't bet on the game, it was a fun and confusing part of a crazy NFL Sunday. For some who did, it was a disaster.

The Vikings obviously didn't cover, which was always an option even if they won fairly easily, but the straight-up loss sent shocks throughout the sports betting world.

You have to be next level confident to bet six figures on a game that will only pay out around $10K, and why shouldn't the bettor have been? They weren't even betting the spread. This was just simply that the Vikings, at home, would beat a Bills team that had lost by 44 and 11 points so far this season.

But instead of an easy payday, the bettor lost their six-figure bet AND the $10K they assuredly thought was a guarantee.

This is a lesson for everyone out there that no bet is a sure thing, even when you're confident enough to lay six figures down for it and sometimes maybe a small hedge would be a good idea.
