After acquiring Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers earlier this week, the San Francisco 49ers are ready to deploy their new superweapon.

The 49ers have revealed their strategy for how they plan to use McCaffrey during his San Francisco debut against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.

Christian McCaffrey 49ers Debut

According to NFL insider Jay Glazer, the 49ers intend to line up McCaffrey on about 20 snaps on Sunday, which is roughly one-third of San Francisco's plays. That may seem light considering the former All-Pro has played at least 80% of offensive snaps in every game this year, but it's a substantial number given that he just joined the team on Friday and has barely had any time to learn the playbook.

Twenty snaps will still give McCaffrey plenty of opportunities to make a difference during Week 7's home tilt against Kansas City. Expect Kyle Shanahan to call several runs and passing plays for his new hybrid running back, giving McCaffrey a chance to establish himself in San Francisco's offense.

The 49ers hope McCaffrey can make some splash plays and put them over the top in what's expected to be a tight game versus the Chiefs. Kansas City is currently favored by 1.5 points on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds for this highly anticipated Super Bowl LIV rematch.
