The Jimmy Garoppolo era appears to be over in San Francisco, as the 49ers will likely be giving the keys to 2021 first-round pick Trey Lance. While Garoppolo is one of the most scrutinized quarterbacks in football, there appear to be plenty of teams interested in trading for the 30-year-old.
In fact, ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio revealed that there may already be a massive deal on the table for Jimmy G.
Jimmy Garoppolo Trade 2022
Florio has reportedly heard that GM John Lynch received a Jimmy G trade offer that includes two second-round picks. That's quite the haul for Garoppolo. It would pale in comparison to the recent Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson trades, but it's more than Indianapolis received for Carson Wentz.
Speaking of Indianapolis, it's very possible that the Colts are the team in question here. Indy has a clear-cut need at QB after trading Wentz and has the mid-round draft capital to pull this off.
But there are plenty of other possibilities as well. The New Orleans Saints need a QB, as do the Seattle Seahawks. The Carolina Panthers would be another logical landing spot, but they don't have their second- or third-round picks this year, so they're pretty much ruled out.
While we don't know where Garoppolo will ultimately end up, it seems like the price to acquire him will be a little higher than you might think.
