Super Bowl 56 is in the rear view mirror and that means it is time to start looking ahead to the 2022 NFL season. The San Francisco 49ers will be aiming to secure their third playoff berth in the last four years and their fan base is going to love the team's spot in ESPN's early 2022 NFL power rankings.

The 49ers check in at No. 6 overall and only trail two other NFC teams (Green Bay Packers & Los Angeles Rams). That has to feel good for a team that was doubted throughout the 2021 season. No one quite took San Francisco seriously until the team started making some noise in the playoffs.

The top offseason priority for head coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff should be figuring out the quarterback position. Assuming the front office will follow through with the plan of trading veteran starter Jimmy Garoppolo, Shanahan needs to make sure young pro Trey Lance is ready to take over.

The weapons Lance has in front of him should certainly ease the transition. Tight end George Kittle finished with 910 receiving yards in 2021 despite only playing 14 games and wide receiver/running back Deebo Samuel is fresh off a breakout season (1,770 yards from scrimmage & 14 touchdowns).

The 49ers may not have a ton of cap space to take advantage of, but they also are not losing many key players to free agency. This roster's Super Bowl window is open right now. San Francisco has the sixth-best odds to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next season at +1500, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
