The Green Bay Packers have essentially decided to run it back in 2020, after being one game away from the Super Bowl. It has been a relatively quiet offseason for the Packers, but that doesn't mean they are done making moves before the season begins.
Green Bay could be forced to make some tough decisions before the season begins. These are three veterans the Packers could cut in training camp.
1. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR
Marquez Valdes-Scantling was projected to be one of the top breakout candidates last season, but he failed to live up to those expectations. The speedster caught just 26 passes all season long. MVS also lost more and more snaps to practice squad promotions, as the season progressed. With Equanimeous St. Brown back from injury. Valdes-Scantling could end up not making the team.
2. Lane Taylor, OG
An injury to Lane Taylor last season opened the door for Elgton Jenkins to be thrown to the fire. He thrived and has proven himself worthy of a roster spot. To keep the five best linemen, the Packers would likely cut right guard Billy Turner instead. However, cutting Taylor would open up much more money, clearing about $4 million to spend elsewhere.
3. Tim Boyle, QB
It is a real possibility the Packers roll into the 2020 season with three quarterbacks on the roster. However, the argument against that would be to ask why they would trade up in the first round to make the controversial selection of Jordan Love if they do not feel he is good enough to be the backup quarterback. Boyle won the backup job last preseason and looked to be solid in that role, but is time in Green Bay looks to be over soon.
