On Thursday Night Football for Week 3, we have the Miami Dolphins taking a short trip to face the Jacksonville Jaguars. Currently, the home team is slightly favored. However, it would not be shocking to see the game go either way.
However, there could still be some surprises in the game. With that in mind, here are three bold predictions for the Dolphins against the Jaguars.
3. No Dolphin Sees More Than 8 Carries
Through two weeks, Miami has spread the ball out among all of their backfield weapons. No running back has reached 10 carries in a game yet. So far, it has been Myles Gaskin that has led the backfield, with 16 carries total. With the odds projecting them to be trailing in this game, the Dolphins are not likely to lean on the run.
2. Mike Gesicki Scores a Touchdown
The versatile tight end led the Dolphins in receiving last weekend, with 130 yards. Mike Gesicki also scored a touchdown. Jacksonville struggled with an athletic tight end last week, with Jonnu Smith totaling two touchdowns on the day. Look for the struggle of guarding tight ends to continue, with Gesicki finding the end zone in back-to-back weeks.
1. Dolphins Sack Gardner Minshew Three Times
The Dolphins pass rush has not been great this season, with 3 three sacks through two games. However, the Jaguars and Gardner Minshew may help them out here. Minshew was caught hanging onto the ball a bit too long last week, resulting in the Tennessee Titans sacking him two times on the day. He was also sacked four times in Week 1. Look for Miami to bring the heat and try to fluster Minshew on Thursday.
