Oakland Athletics closer Blake Treinen was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain, putting his fantasy owners in a potentially sticky situation. While he hasn't had as dominant a season as he did during his All-Star campaign last year, he was still a consistent source of saves for his owners this season.

Notching 16 saves (tied for fifth in the AL) in 18 opportunities this season, Treinen provided his owners with strikeouts (36 Ks in 35 1/3 innings pitched) and saves, the two things you want from a top-end relief pitcher.

With no timetable for his return, Treinen's fantasy owners will need to head to the waiver wire to find a suitable replacement for the time being. With that in mind, here are three fantasy baseball waive wire replacements for the A's closer.

3. Sergio Romo, Miami Marlins

It's pretty rare to see a team's undisputed closer sitting on the waiver wire, but Sergio Romo has been that guy for most of the season, and he should be available (he's owned in 45 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues) for those looking for a temporary Treinen replacement. The 36-year-old righty's 4.36 ERA isn't going to wow you, but he's notched 14 saves on the season and three in his last five appearances. He's arguably the most reliable option that's likely still on your waiver wire and remains someone fantasy owners can lean on, at least in the short term.

2. Roenis Elías, Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners have used a closer-by-committee approach for most of the season, but it looks like Roenis Elías is becoming the go-to pitcher in the ninth for manager Scott Servais. Elías has been called upon in save situations in four of his last five appearances, going 4-for-4 in said save opportunities without allowing hit. The 30-year-old southpaw is available in 60 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, so it's more than a coin flip that he's still an option for you to pick up.

1. Liam Hendriks, Oakland Athletics

As is often the case, the best place to look for a replacement is in the same bullpen. Liam Hendriks was the first pitcher called upon in a save chance after the A's placed Treinen on the 10-day injured list, and he didn't disappoint, recording a 1-2-3 ninth inning. The 30-year-old righty has easily been Oakland's best reliever this season (1.49 ERA, 50 strikeouts 42 1/3 innings pitched) and looks to be in line for save opportunities for the foreseeable future. And if he locks down the ninth, it's quite possible that he keeps the job. until Treinen comes back. Available in 64 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, Hendriks is a must-add reliever right now.
