Few things are more exciting, or rewarding, than watching your underdog thoroughbred pull off an upset at the Kentucky Derby.

While most bettors are riding the favorites at TVG, here are three long shots that have a chance at paying off in a big way.

Mike Curry, of America's Best Racing, views Code of Honor as the best bet outside of the favorites. Code of Honor earned strong speed figures for his age across the board. He recently had a strong workout with Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey, so he'll likely be in good shape heading into the Kentucky Derby.

2. Tax, 20/1

Tax boasts two wins, two seconds, and a third in his five career races and most recently placed second in the Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct on April 6. Tax also comes from decorated lineage that includes the 1993 Kentucky Derby winner, Sea Hero, so Mint Juleps run through his veins.

1. Long Range Toddy, 30/1

Prior to a sixth place finish in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, Long Range Toddy posted four wins, a second, and a third in his previous six races. Plus, his Arkansas Derby placing was skewed by his first time on a wet track. If Churchill Downs remains dry, Long Range Toddy has the pedigree to steal the show and net a massive payout to bettors.
