WNBA Prop Bets

Kayla McBride Over 15.5 Points (-130)

Despite averaging 17.8 points this season, Kayla McBride still hasn't garnered much respect from the market. The Minnesota Lynx guard has a points prop set at just 15.5 for tonight's bout with the Los Angeles Sparks. That's a total I like her to go over for the seventh time in 13 games.

McBride's 17.8 points per game is the second-highest mark of her career, and it's come via a scorching-hot start to the season. Entering Friday's action, McBride was shooting 49.6% overall, 51.7% from three, and 92.1% from the free-throw line. She's taken a career-high 7.3 three-point attempts per game.

She (probably) won't stay this hot all season but hasn't shown any signs of slowing down with 25, 32, and 16 points over her last three games.

While McBride was held to 13 points in Minnesota's previous date with LA, she shot just 1-of-6 from three. She still took the second-most shots (11) on the team.

Tonight's rematch presents another nice spot for her to fill up the scoring column. LA sits in the bottom half of the W in defensive rating but are league-average in pace. They're in the bottom half of the league in three-point attempts allowed, too.

On top of that, the Sparks have surrendered the fourth-most above the break three-point attempts and makes in the league. McBride has attempted the fifth-most above-the-break threes in the W, shooting a league-best 53.7% from that zone.

I'll bank on McBride to shoot better against the Sparks this time around, staying hot and going over 15.5 points in the process.

Ariel Atkins Over 13.5 Points (-125)

Washington Mystics guard Ariel Atkins is averaging exactly 13.5 points per game this season, mirroring her points prop tonight. With two key names down for the Mystics, she's in a nice spot to go over 13.5 points in a plus matchup with the Chicago Sky.

The Mystics will be without guard Brittney Sykes (foot) and center Shakira Austin (hip). When active, Sykes has averaged 11.3 points on 10.0 field goal attempts per game, while Austin has put up 11.7 points and 11.0 field goal attempts per game. They rank first and second on the team with near-30% usage rates, so there's plenty of scoring opportunity up for grabs tonight.

Atkins has averaged only 11.5 points in six games with both Sykes and Austin sidelined, but that hasn't been due to a lack of chances. In those six games, she averaged 13.8 field goal attempts per game, including a 21-shot effort last week against the Fever.

The usage should be there for Atkins to go over 13.5 points tonight, and the matchup is better than you'd think. Although the Sky are top five in defensive rating, they've given up the fifth-most points and fourth-most shot attempts to guards in addition to playing at the third-fastest pace in the W.

Atkins and the Mystics have played eight games against teams in the top half of the league in pace. In those games, she's averaging 14.8 points on 12.6 field goal attempts per game.

For the season, Atkins has gone over this 13.5-point line in seven of 13 games. In fact, she scored at least 15 points in each of those seven games, paving the way for Ariel Atkins To Score 15+ Points as an alt. line at +108 odds.
