WNBA Best Bets and Predictions Today
Indiana Fever vs. Toronto Tempo
Indiana Fever -14.5 (-110)
Indiana enters Friday at 26-14 and is averaging an impressive 97.0 points per game, which ranks first in the WNBA. The Fever are also shooting 49.2% from the field and 39.5% from 3-point range, both among the league's best marks.
Toronto is 11-29 and has lost four straight games. The Tempo are averaging 86.2 points per game while allowing 93.8, and they are shooting just 44.0% from the field. Indiana already beat Toronto 101-95 in the teams' previous meeting on August 18.
Indiana is also coming off a 111-91 win over Connecticut, shooting 58.2% from the field and making 12 of 29 3-point attempts.
Kelsey Mitchell 25+ Points (-160)
Mitchell is averaging 25.0 points per game this season while playing 32.8 minutes per contest. She is shooting 51.3% from the field and 45.5% from 3-point range.
Her most recent game was one of her best performances of the season, as she scored 34 points on 12-of-19 shooting against Connecticut. She also scored 30 points against Chicago and 25 against New York in Indiana's two games immediately before that.
Toronto is allowing opponents to shoot 47.2% from the field and 34.7% from 3-point range, which sets up well for one of the league's most efficient perimeter scorers.
New York Liberty vs. Minnesota Lynx
New York Liberty +6.5 (-106)
Minnesota has the better overall record at 31-9, but New York has already shown it can compete in this matchup.
The teams have split their first two meetings this season. New York won the first 99-86, while Minnesota took the second 90-85. That five-point Minnesota victory would have stayed within Friday's 6.5-point spread.
New York is also 25-16 overall and averaging 89.9 points per game, not far behind Minnesota's 91.3. The Lynx have been considerably better defensively, but the Liberty's offense and previous results against Minnesota make the 6.5-point cushion useful here.
Rather than relying on Olivia Miles to clear 20 points, the Liberty spread gives us exposure to this matchup without depending on one player's scoring output.
Portland Fire vs. Golden State Valkyries
Golden State Valkyries -12.5 (-115)
Golden State enters Friday at 29-11 compared to Portland's 16-25 record, and the Valkyries already handled this matchup comfortably in their previous meeting. Golden State won that game 86-69, holding Portland to 38.7% shooting.
Portland is also playing on consecutive nights after losing 94-91 to Phoenix on Thursday, while Golden State is returning from the World Cup break.
The biggest concern is Golden State's availability. Gabby Williams, Janelle Salaün, and Cecilia Zandalasini had not returned to practice as of Thursday following the World Cup, making their status worth monitoring before tipoff.
Even with that uncertainty, Golden State's 29-11 record, home court, and 17-point win in the previous matchup provide support for the Valkyries at -12.5.
WNBA Betting -- Frequently Asked Questions
What does the point spread mean in WNBA betting?
The point spread is a margin set by oddsmakers to level the playing field between two unevenly matched teams. For example, if the Dallas Wings are listed at -7.5, they need to win by 8 or more points for a bet on them to cash. Conversely, a bet on their opponent at +7.5 wins if that team loses by 7 or fewer points — or wins outright.
What is the moneyline?
The moneyline is a straight-up bet on which team wins the game, with no spread involved. Favorites carry a negative number (e.g., -200, meaning you must risk $200 to win $100), while underdogs carry a positive number (e.g., +170, meaning a $100 bet returns $170 profit).
How does the over/under (game total) work?
Oddsmakers set a projected combined score for the game, and bettors wager on whether the actual total will go over or under that number. For instance, if the total is set at 154.5 points, an over bet wins if both teams combine for 155 or more points. WNBA totals can swing based on pace of play, rest situations, and injuries, so it's worth tracking those factors before placing a total bet.
What are WNBA player props?
Player props are bets tied to an individual player's statistical performance rather than the game's outcome. Common prop bet markets include points scored, assists, rebounds, three-pointers made, and combinations of those stats.
