WNBA Best Bets and Predictions Today
Sun at Fever, 7:30 p.m. ET
Fever -17.5 (-104)
This is a super lopsided spread, but the matchup gives Indiana a legitimate opportunity to run away from Connecticut.
The Fever own the WNBA's top offense, averaging 96.6 points per game with a league-best 117.6 offensive rating. Connecticut, meanwhile, enters tonight at 10-28 and is dealing with a depleted roster that includes Brittney Griner and Leila Lacan being unavailable.
We've also already seen just how ugly this matchup can get. Indiana scored 123 points in a 35-point victory over Connecticut on July 22, and the Fever possess a massive perimeter advantage behind Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.
Connecticut has enough problems generating consistent offense that it may struggle to keep pace if Indiana gets anywhere close to its season scoring average. I'll take the big number with the Fever at home.
Mystics at Sparks, 10 p.m. ET
Mystics -5.5 (-114)
Washington has quietly become one of the WNBA's most reliable teams down the stretch, and the Mystics should have a significant defensive advantage against Los Angeles.
The Mystics already defeated the Sparks 80-70 this month, and Washington enters tonight having won three consecutive road games. Its defense has been the foundation of that success, with Washington allowing 83.2 points per game, the second-fewest in the WNBA.
Los Angeles has been much easier to attack. The Sparks surrender 92.5 points per game, the second-most in the league, while their 113.3 defensive rating ranks 13th. They are 13-25 overall and have lost six of their past eight games.
Washington is coming off a road game against Phoenix on Thursday, so the back-to-back is worth acknowledging. Still, the gap between these teams defensively is significant enough for me to lay the points with the road favorite.
WNBA Betting -- Frequently Asked Questions
What does the point spread mean in WNBA betting?
The point spread is a margin set by oddsmakers to level the playing field between two unevenly matched teams. For example, if the Dallas Wings are listed at -7.5, they need to win by 8 or more points for a bet on them to cash. Conversely, a bet on their opponent at +7.5 wins if that team loses by 7 or fewer points — or wins outright.
What is the moneyline?
The moneyline is a straight-up bet on which team wins the game, with no spread involved. Favorites carry a negative number (e.g., -200, meaning you must risk $200 to win $100), while underdogs carry a positive number (e.g., +170, meaning a $100 bet returns $170 profit).
How does the over/under (game total) work?
Oddsmakers set a projected combined score for the game, and bettors wager on whether the actual total will go over or under that number. For instance, if the total is set at 154.5 points, an over bet wins if both teams combine for 155 or more points. WNBA totals can swing based on pace of play, rest situations, and injuries, so it's worth tracking those factors before placing a total bet.
What are WNBA player props?
Player props are bets tied to an individual player's statistical performance rather than the game's outcome. Common prop bet markets include points scored, assists, rebounds, three-pointers made, and combinations of those stats.
