Williams: 3 NFL Future Bets Showing Value Before the 2024 NFL Playoffs

The best weekend in sports is right around the corner -- Super Wild Card Weekend.

Before kickoff, we can take advantage of some great values that we won't see for the remainder of the playoffs. Keep in mind, there have only been five true Wild Card teams (non-division winners) that have hoisted the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season since 2000.

This is a fun time to get in on futures and brag to your friends about the tickets you're holding come February. Here are my three favorite values in the playoff futures market:

Los Angeles Rams To Win the Super Bowl

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +5000

Remember during the offseason when Sean McVay was thought to step away from football and Matthew Stafford wasn't going to be able to play a full season with various injuries? Fast forward to the eve of Super Wild Card Weekend, and the Los Angeles RamsI think are one of the scariest teams in the NFC right now.

They enter Wild Card Weekend with one of the most explosive offenses in all of the NFL -- especially with Kyren Williams coming into the fold when Stafford came back healthy in Week 12. Taking this longshot, you'll be hoping for a victory for the Green Bay Packers over the Dallas Cowboys as that will give the Rams the winner of the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.

Of course, there would be a tough matchup awaiting after that with the San Francisco 49ers, and McVay is 5-10 vs Kyle Shanahan all-time, but 50-to-1 odds are too enticing for a team peaking at the right time.

Kansas City Chiefs To Reach the AFC Championship Game

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +185

The 2023-24 NFL season was full of many surprises, but none more surprising than the state of the Kansas City Chiefs.

If you told me before the season that you could get this team heading into Wild Card Weekend at nearly 2-to-1 odds to reach the AFC Championship, I would have hammered this number. If the Bills and Chiefs both win this weekend, they will face off yet again in the postseason. The difference this time is with Buffalo hosting the game. We have yet to see what Patrick Mahomes looks like in a road playoff game, but this Buffalo Bills team has struggled a bit this season, too.

Mahomes is an animal in the postseason sporting an 11-3 record, over 4,000 passing yards with a 35-7 TD-to-INT ratio in 14 career playoff games. Again, he's had the luxury to play all of his games (minus Super Bowls) at home, but we could see a 2020 Tom Brady-esque run from Mahomes, and I wouldn't be surprised.

Travis Kelce To Win Super Bowl LVIII MVP

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +15000

This bet comes from a similar place to the one above. Maybe, this is the end of an era for Kansas City...or maybe they are just finally facing some adversity that they'll have to figure out how to overcome.

Either way, there is immense value in betting on the defending Super Bowl champions. The 34-year-old Travis Kelce hasn't been on the same page as Patrick Mahomes all season, and for their sake, I hope they were able to realign in Week 18 -- a pseudo bye-week. Should this team represent the AFC yet again in the Super Bowl, these odds are incredible to get right now.

Surprisingly, Kelce has not yet had a multi-score game in either of the two Super Bowl wins for Kansas City. Outside of rookie Rashee Rice, the receiving group for the Chiefs has been less than stellar and has likely lost whatever ounce of trust Mahomes has had in them.

Cooper Kupp and Julian Edelman are the only pass catchers to be awarded MVP honors in the Big Game since 2010, but a big game from Kelce on the biggest stage in football - double-digit catches and a multi-score game - can easily have him join that elite company.
