PGA Championship Betting Picks: Group Betting Odds

Rory McIlroy’s superb final round pushed him to victory at the Wells Fargo Championship this past Sunday. Now the top golfers in the world will head to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky for the 2024 PGA Championship -- the second major of the season.

We've already looked at the standard golf betting markets in our PGA Championship betting picks piece. Let's dig in to the PGA Championship group betting odds via the golf odds at FanDuel Sportsbook. FanDuel is offering six groups of five golfers -- with the groups labeled A through F -- for this week's major.

Let's take a look at these groups and see who stands out.

PGA Championship odds come from FanDuel Sportsbook and may change after this article is published.

PGA Championship Groups Betting

Group A

Group A
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds
Scottie Scheffler+150
Rory McIlroy+280
Xander Schauffele+420
Brooks Koepka+550
Jon Rahm+550

Xander Schauffele (+420)

Xander Schauffele's lack of recent wins is the only thing missing from his resume. He has done everything else besides secure a victory and has the game to top this star-studded group. He has the distance to tackle Valhalla, which he showed last week at an almost equally as long Quail Hollow. At that event, he finished second in strokes gained: off the tee, behind only Rory McIlroy, and was longer and more accurate than the field.

Schauffele is second in the field this week in total strokes gained and strokes gained: tee to green, fifth in strokes gained: approach, and eighth in strokes gained: off the tee. He is 11th in strokes gained: around the green and 18th in strokes gained: putting -- making him the only golfer in the field to rank inside the top 20 in all strokes gained categories. He has finished T20 or better in eight consecutive majors.

Others to Consider:

  • Scottie Scheffler (+150)

Group B

Group B
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds
Ludvig Åberg+260
Bryson DeChambeau+330
Collin Morikawa+330
Max Homa+360
Patrick Cantlay+450

Ludvig Aberg (+260)

Ludvig Aberg has five top-10 finishes in his last eight events, with no finishes worse than T25. He has been at this best in the biggest tournaments, with a second-place finish at the 2024 Masters and an eighth-place showing at THE PLAYERS Championship. If not for his play around the greens (74th in the field this week), Aberg's stokes gained metrics would look very similar to Schauffele's.

Aberg is the most well-rounded golfer in Group B. He is fourth in the field in total strokes gained, fifth in strokes gained: off the tee, 19th in strokes gained: approach, and 18th in strokes gained: putting. He leads this group in all of those categories, and with his distance off the tee (18th), Aberg has an excellent outlook this week.

Others to Consider:

  • Collin Morikawa (+330)

Group C

Group C
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds
Joaquin Niemann+280
Cameron Smith+350
Justin Thomas+360
Wyndham Clark+360
Viktor Hovland+360

Joaquin Niemann (+280)

Joaquin Niemann enters this week in solid form, with five consecutive top 10s at LIV events in addition a T22 finish at the 2024 Masters. Niemann's game is a good match for Valhalla. He is third in the field in both driving distance and strokes gained: approach, and fifth in total strokes gained. Niemann is 64th in driving accuracy, the best mark of any golfer ranked inside the top 10 in driving distance.

Others to Consider:

  • Justin Thomas (+360)

Group D

Group D
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds
Tommy Fleetwood+240
Cameron Young+300
Hideki Matsuyama+360
Will Zalatoris+400
Dustin Johnson+450

Cameron Young (+300)

Cameron Young will be making his third start at the PGA Championship this week. In his previous two, he finished T3 (2022) and missed the cut (2023). Young has five top-10 finishes in his last eight majors, including a T8 and T9 in his two most recent majors. He finished T34 at the Wells Fargo Championship last week due to poor play around the greens, but he gained strokes in every other category.

Young is 33rd in the field in driving distance, 12th in strokes gained: approach, 17th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 29th in total strokes gained. His putting is a slight concern (85th in the field), but he has gained strokes with the flat stick in three of his last four events. In 12 starts this season, he has six top 20s and three top 5s.

Others to Consider:

  • Tommy Fleetwood (+240)

Group E

Group E
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds
Tyrrell Hatton+280
Matt Fitzpatrick+330
Sahith Theegala+330
Jordan Spieth+360
Tony Finau+400

Sahith Theegala (+330)

The one hole in Sahith Theegala's game is his play around the greens, and it really hurt him at last week's Wells Fargo Championship. He finished T52 while losing -1.38 strokes per round around the greens. Over his last 50 rounds, Theegala has gained at least +0.50 strokes per round in every other strokes gained category. Historically, his play around the greens at majors has actually been decent, with strokes gained in that area in five of his seven starts.

Theegala has everything else needed to win this group. He is eighth in strokes gained: putting, 15th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 21st in total strokes gained. Excluding his play around the greens, he is having the best season of his career so far in 2024, posting career-best averages in every other strokes gained category as well as driving distance, and driving accuracy.

Others to Consider:

  • Tyrrell Hatton (+280)

Group F

Group F
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds
Jason Day+280
Min Woo Lee+300
Sungjae Im+330
Talor Gooch+360
Shane Lowry+450

Min Woo Lee (+300)

Min Woo Lee has a significant edge on this group in strokes gained: off the tee and driving distance -- two key stats this week. Lee is fourth in the field in strokes gained: off the tee; the next closest golfers in this group are Talor Gooch (21st) and Sungjae Im (26th). Both Gooch and Im rank outside the top 85 driving distance -- Lee ranks fifth.

Lee has performed well at majors of late, with four finishes of T22 or better across his last six starts, including a T5 (2023 U.S. Open). His putting has been poor this season (-0.22 strokes per round), but he is averaging career highs in strokes gained: approach (-0.22) and off the tee (+0.92) through 11 starts.

Others to Consider:

  • Shane Lowry (+450)
