NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Wednesday 12/20/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Kevin Fiala

To Score a Goal (+220)

The Los Angeles Kings will look to keep things rolling on offense and pick up another win against the Seattle Kraken tonight.

These two teams played just a few days ago and saw the Kings win 3-2, which is what we should be anticipating tonight. The Kings have a 3.62 implied goal total and that leads me to Kevin Fiala for a goal tonight.

The Kings are a strong offensive team, as they come in scoring 2.98 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-best in the league.

Over Fiala's last 10 games, he has a solid 27 shots on goal, but no goals to show for it. That's been the story for him this season, as he has just six goals in 28 games played. However, when we look at his Expected Goals Scored (xGF), he's up at 9.1 goals.

While that's not a massive difference, he's clearly underperforming, and given his role on the second forward line and the first power-play, he will constantly be in a good spot to pile up the shots and look for a goal.

Mark Scheifele

Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100)

The Winnipeg Jets will look to get the offense going against the Detroit Red Wings tonight.

With Kyle Connor out of the lineup for the Jets, several players have looked to step up and fill that offensive void. The Jets' captain, Mark Scheifele is one of those players and has racked up at least three shots on goal in three of the five games since Connor has been out.

Tonight, the matchup against the Red Wings should allow him to do much of the same since they are allowing 67.43 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league over the last two weeks.

This should put Scheifele in a great spot to pick up an easy three shots on goal tonight.
