NHL Prop Bets

Nathan MacKinnon To Record 5+ Shots on Goal (+134)

The NHL is back and we have a two-game slate to kick things off this week.

The All-Star break has come and gone for the NHL and we are back to the player prop market tonight. We'll start with Nathan MacKinnon to record 5+ shots on goal, a level he has routinely hit this season.

The Colorado Avalanche are -110 on the moneyline as they visit the New York Rangers, where we see a 6.5 over/under. These are two of the best teams in the league and a close back-and-forth game should be expected.

Since the start of January, the Avalanche have generated 64.27 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 11th best in the NHL. This is led largely by MacKinnon, who has the second-most (224) shots on goal in the NHL.

That's an average of 4.5 per game, which is no surprise as he sees time on the top forward line and the first power-play unit. Over his last 15 games, MacKinnon hit five shots on goal seven times, including five games at seven or more shots on goal.

He's one of the most consistent players in the league and worth targeting tonight.

Noah Dobson Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-120)

Next up, let's take a look at Noah Dobson of the New York Islanders.

The Islanders are +138 road underdogs and set to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs, in what could be a high-scoring game.

In the final two weeks prior to the All-Star break, the Maple Leafs' defense allowed 59.55 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is 14th in the league. Over that same time, the Islanders generated 64.00 Total Shot Attempts, which was the ninth-best in the league.

Dobson piled up 24 shots on goal in the final 10 games before the break, while seeing time on the Islanders' top defensive pairing and top power-play unit.

With the second-highest (25:58) average time on ice per game in the league, Dobson will have plenty of chances to fire the puck and pile up the shots on goal.
