Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Jack Hughes

Over 4.5 Shots on Goal (+122)

A 4.23 implied goal total should put the New Jersey Devils in a spot to pile up the goals versus the Chicago Blackhawks.

As usual, whenever the Blackhawks are on the slate, we turn to player props for the opposing team since they are in a great spot to produce.

Over the last month, the Blackhawks are allowing the most (69.06) Total Shot Attempts and the third-most (3.25) Goals, both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. Another year and another time we see them as one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

This has me looking directly to Jack Hughes, who is primed for a huge game. He comes in averaging 4.4 shots on goal per game, along with having a total of 45 NHL points in 31 games this season.

As a team, the Devils' offense has been on fire over the last month, scoring the fourth-most (3.10) Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. With his role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, he will have a matchup to pile up the shots tonight.

Andrei Svechnikov

Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-135)

It took some time, but Andrei Svechnikov is finally looking like himself on the ice.

After missing the first portion of the season due to an ACL injury, Svechnikov started off slow in terms of offensive production, but that has changed in a hurry.

Over his last five games, Svechnikov has 15 shots on goal, 6 goals, and 5 assists, putting him among the hottest players in the league. He reprised his role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, looking like the elite goal-scorer that he truly is.

When it comes to the matchup versus the Washington Capitals, it's a good one for shots since they are allowing the 10th most (63.32) Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last month.

For the Carolina Hurricanes' offense, they're doing their usual thing and come in with 66.61 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last month, which is the third-best in the league.

They should be piling up the shots tonight and Svechnikov is primed to help lead the way.
