Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Andrei Svechnikov Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-130)

The Carolina Hurricanes will look to avoid elimination tonight against the New York Rangers.

Down 3-1, the Canes need to pull out all the stops if they want to extend their season and live to fight another day. The Canes continue to pile up the shots and that's where we'll look tonight with over 2.5 shots on goal for Andrei Svechnikov.

He's on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, coming in with at least two shots on goal in all four games this series. The Canes have controlled the tempo advantage this series with 345 Total Shot Attempts compared to the Rangers at 257.

That trend needs to continue tonight if the Canes are going to fight off elimination.

Tyler Seguin Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+116)

In what's been a back-and-forth series, the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche will face off in Game 4 tonight.

The Stars have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 series lead tonight and if that's going to be the case, it's probably going to mean plenty of offense.

While the Stars have several players who are putting up good playoff performances, Tyler Seguin has been super consistent. Seguin has hit over 2.5 shots on goal in nine of the 10 playoff games this season and we're still getting the prop at plus money.

He sees time on the third forward line and the second power-play unit, which isn't a massive offensive role, but he's making the most of it and prioritizing offensive chances.
