Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Connor McDavid Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+134)

The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a collapse in Game 1 to the Vancouver Canucks and need to find a way to right the ship.

Edmonton was up 4-1 late in the second period of the opener and ended up losing 5-4 in regulation. On top of that, the great Connor McDavid didn't have a single shot on goal! He had just one shot attempt but it didn't hit the net.

He's the best player on the planet and not having a shot on goal combined with the game outcome is simply not good enough. But wait, there's more!

The Oilers' other top star, Leon Draisaitl, left Game 1 for a bit in the second period and appears to be battling some type of injury. When we roll this all together, it puts more of the pressure on McDavid to produce offensively.

He averaged 3.4 shots on goal per game in the regular season and had 13 shots on goal in three games against the Canucks. The Oilers need more from their best player if they are going to tie up the series.

Sergei Bobrovsky Over 24.5 Saves (-120)

Game 1 was all about the Boston Bruins and Game 2 was all about the Florida Panthers.

Back and forth we go and it's what we should expect between these two teams for the entire series. The Bruins had it all in the first game and simply didn't do enough in Game 2, but they're back on home ice and should come out firing early.

Boston ended Game 2 with a total of 15 shots on goal, which is terrible. A much-needed bounce-back performance should be on tap for them, which means Sergei Bobrovsky should be under siege the entire game.

Bobrovsky faced 28 shots in Game 1 against the Bruins, a level of offensive pressure they should return to after a slow Game 2. That is right around his normal workload as he has 24 saves or more in four of the seven playoff contests this season.
