Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Tyler Seguin Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-122)

With the series tied 2-2, the home Dallas Stars will look to rebound after their most recent loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Game 4 started off strong for the Stars with a 2-0 lead in the first period but that changed quickly as the Oilers went on to win that game 5-2. With the Stars back in Dallas, they will have the second line change, which puts them in a spot to have favorable matchups.

This is where Tyler Seguin should thrive, as he skates on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. Seguin currently leads the Stars with 54 shots on goal through 17 playoff games, which is good for 3.1 per game.

He's been over this mark in three of the four games in this series and after a bit of a collapse in their most recent game, the Stars need a more consistent effort from their top players, where Seguin will be right in the mix.

Evander Kane Under 2.5 Shots on Goal (-128)

After a few lineup changes, players have new roles for the Oilers.

Mixing and matching lines is always a hotly debated topic, especially when it comes to the playoffs. For Edmonton, that has been more evident than usual this playoffs and it opens up some props to target.

Evander Kane was dropped from the second forward line to the third forward line in Game 4. That resulted in Kane playing 13:56 minutes compared to 18:00 and 17:55 in the two previous games.

Kane is only averaging 2.6 shots on goal in the playoffs, so it's not as if he's blowing past this prop at a consistent rate. Add in a decreased offensive role and it won't be easy for Kane to rack up the shots tonight, leading to under 2.5 on this prop.
