NHL Daily Fantasy Picks and Helper: Thursday 1/11/24

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.
Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters.
Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.
Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate, find a goalie, some stacks, and some value plays for your NHL DFS lineups on FanDuel.
NHL DFS Picks
Goalie to Target
Joey Daccord, Seattle Kraken ($8,500)
The Seattle Kraken have had a revolving door at goaltender, but they've found their answer with Joey Daccord, which is who we are rolling with tonight.
Daccord has been impressive this season for the Kraken, starting 22 games (playing in 25) and going 11-5-8. He's turned those games into a 2.28 goals against average, .923 save percentage, and 11.84 goals saved above expectation. The Kraken's netminder ranks 4th in both goals against average and save percentage while ranking 11th in goals saved above expectation. The performance has led him to be one of the best in hockey, setting him up for a huge night against the Washington Capitals.
The Capitals have been a bad offensive team for the majority of the NHL season. They're at the bottom of the league with a horrible 53.82 Corsi For per 60 minutes (30th) and are totaling just 2.35 Goals For per 60 minutes (30th). Washington has been able to win a lot of close games, but playing a top goaltender like Daccord doesn't spell well for their potential to succeed.
numberFire's model is firmly backing Daccord as the top netminder on the night, projecting him to finish with 22.5 FanDuel points.
Stacks
Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers are in the driver's seat for a huge offensive showing tonight against the Detroit Red Wings.
There's an expectation in this game for a lot of goals considering that we have one of our highest totals of the year for this game set at 7.5 goals on FanDuel Sportsbook. When that much offense is expected, you have to be a part of it. The Oilers are the ones you want, coming into the night with the best implied total of any team on the 13-game slate at 4.14, per numberFire's heat map.
Edmonton has lived up to expectations on the offensive end. After 37 games, the Oilers are 6th with a 64.73 Corsi For per 60 minutes and 5th with 3.51 Goals For per 60 minutes. The offense that is led by Connor McDavid ($10,500) and Leon Draisaitl ($9,300) continues to dominate, and it's why we're stacking them against a Red Wings team that struggles to keep the puck out of their own net.
The Red Wings give up tons of chances as shown by their bottom-10 Corsi Against (63.23). Overall, they're allowing 3.36 Goals Against per 60 minutes, good enough for 26th in the league.
Detroit will send out Alex Lyon. The goaltender has been quite good in his first 12 games with the Red Wings, sporting a 2.51 goals against average and .920 save percentage. Even with those good numbers, though, we're not too afraid to stack the Oilers tonight against that.
Along with the obvious duo of McDavid and Draisaitl, getting McDavid's linemates Zach Hyman ($9,600) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($7,700) as part of the stack would be a good call. Evan Bouchard ($8,600) deserves some love, as well.
Winnipeg Jets
With the current state of the Chicago Blackhawks' lineup, it's hard to shy away from anyone playing them. That's why we've landed at the Winnipeg Jets for the second stack of the slate.
The Jets haven't been a juggernaut or anything offensively, but they've got the job done. They have just a 60.04 Corsi For -- which ranks 19th -- but have been able to turn their chances in 3.4 Goals For per 60 minutes, ranking 8th. That ability to score should carry them and, more importantly, help DFS lineups tonight.
Chicago has been bad all season long -- as expected. They're giving up a ton of opportunities, with a 64.2 Corsi Against per 60 minutes (27th) while letting up 3.68 Goals Against per 60 (3.68). It's everything you want to see when stacking a lineup, making this an easy decision for us tonight.
Petr Mrazek has been solid enough for the Blackhawks, his goals against average is up to 3.21, and he's allowed 15 goals over his last four games.
When firing up the Jets lineup, it's been to roll with the top line trio of Mark Scheifele ($7,800), Nikolaj Ehlers ($7,500), and Gabriel Vilardi ($6,400) -- who are also on the top power-play unit. Josh Morrissey ($7,500) is always a great option on the backend.
Value Skaters
Andrei Svechnikov, W, Carolina Hurricanes ($6,100)
It took some time, but Andrei Svechnikov is back playing at an elite level, and this very well may be the last time we can consider him a value.
Svechnikov tore his ACL last season, and he's doing everything in his power to get back to 100%. It wasn't immediate, but he's been great recently, now playing some of the best hockey of his entire career.
Through 25 games, Svechnikov has 9 goals, 17 assists, and 26 points, which is all the more impressive considering he totaled only 4 points in his first eight games. He's been making up for that with 14 points in his last seven games -- making this the best time to get him in your DFS lineups against a bad Anaheim Ducks team.
numberFire's model is projecting Svechnikov to finish with 17.6 FanDuel points.
Sean Monahan, W, Montreal Canadiens ($5,300)
Sean Monahan is in a good spot to produce against the San Jose Sharks tonight.
While centering the third line of a team isn't an overly exciting role, Monahan plays big minutes for the Habs with an average of 18:22 time on ice, his most since the 2019-20 season. He's played in 40 games this season and has totaled 11 goals, 13 assists, and 24 points.
He has a role on the penalty kill and first line of the power play for the Canadiens, providing enough usage in all parts of the game to make a mark against a Sharks team that is allowing 4.06 Goals Against per 60 minutes.
Monahan is set up for a good showing tonight with numberFire projecting him to finish with 14.0 FanDuel points.
