San Francisco 49ers 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 11.5 (+100 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: -430
Odds to Win the NFC West: -195
Odds to Win the NFC: +250
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +550 (market favorite)

Notably, the San Francisco 49ers are looking to bounce back from another Super Bowl loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, San Francisco has done well to win the division in three of the past five seasons.

Going forward, FanDuel Sportsbook lists the 49ers with -195 odds to win the NFC West. Of all eight divisions, that is the second-shortest label in the market.

In 2024, San Francisco has the luxury of returning the majority of their starting cast for at least one more year. Quarterback Brock Purdy is coming off a campaign wherein he averaged 9.9 adjusted yards per attempt in Kyle Shanahan's offense. Certainly, playmakers like Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle are always sure to make the most of their touches.

Defensive leaders Nick Bosa and Fred Warner are still in Northern California. From there, Leonard Floyd and Maliek Collins join a fierce front seven. Also, linebacker Dre Greenlaw (Achilles) and safety Talanoa Hufanga (ACL) will return from injury in the upcoming year.

Despite a theatrical playoff run, the Niners proved themselves as the cream of the NFC in 2023. By year's end, they ranked 3rd of 32 in both points scored (28.9 PPG) and points allowed (17.5 PPG). Barring an especially nasty Super Bowl hangover, San Francisco should continue to be a juggernaut.

Los Angeles Rams 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 8.5 (-144 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: +102
Odds to Win the NFC West: +330
Odds to Win the NFC: +1400
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +3200 (14th-best)

As a youthful team on the rise, the Los Angeles Rams will be quite competitive this season. Sure, wily veteran Matthew Stafford is in his 16th campaign, but there are many young aspects to like about Los Angeles' NFC side.

On the outside, Puka Nacua just set the NFL's rookie yardage record with 1,486 receiving yards. Next, Rams tailback Kyren Williams produced 95.3 rushing yards per game in 2023. If wideout Cooper Kupp can maintain his health, this is a dangerous skill group.

On the defensive side, Los Angeles will be without Aaron Donald for the first time since the franchise moved from St. Louis. The three-time AP DPOY and future Hall-of-Famer retired after the most recent season. Still, the Rams selected edge rusher Jared Verse at the 2024 NFL Draft -- perhaps the former Florida State Seminoles star can be the next game-wrecker for L.A.

Rams head coach Sean McVay has been at post since 2017. Throughout that span, LAR has won the NFC West three times while qualifying for the Super Bowl twice. Simply, the leadership here knows exactly what it takes to reach the pinnacle.

Seattle Seahawks 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 7.5 (-138 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: +194
Odds to Win the NFC West: +750
Odds to Win the NFC: +3000
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +7500 (22nd-best)

From a personnel standpoint, the Seattle Seahawks are built not too differently than the aforementioned Rams. Seattle is geared behind a veteran quarterback (Geno Smith) and several talented offensive skill players (D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Kenneth Walker III).

The Seahawks are the lone team in the NFC West that has a new head coach in 2024. For the first time in nearly 15 years, someone other than Pete Carroll is calling the shots in Seattle: enter Mike Macdonald. This is Macdonald's inaugural HC position at the NFL level, as he spent the past two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens as defensive coordinator.

As the 12th Man can attest to, the Seahawks were pretty poor on D last year. They managed a 9-8 overall record but allowed the third-most yards per game (371.3). Simply, Macdonald was brought in to address the defense first and foremost.

Of most urgency, Seattle needs to improve when it comes to defending against the run. In 2023, only one NFL team surrendered more yards on the ground than the Seahawks. To make matters worse, Seattle's opponents ran for a total of 24 touchdowns against them.

FanDuel Sportsbook currently has the Seahawks priced with +750 odds in the divisional betting market. This is a team that last won the NFC West in 2020. Still, they seem to be a ways removed from that presently.

Arizona Cardinals 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 6.5 (-178 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: +265
Odds to Win the NFC West: +1200
Odds to Win the NFC: +4500
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +8000 (T23rd-best)

The Arizona Cardinals are one of the most tortured organizations in the NFL. Heading forward, it looks like another tough season is on the horizon for the Cards. FanDuel Sportsbook lists Arizona's win total at a measly 6.5 games (-178 over/+144 under).

In search of their first division title since 2015, the Cardinals are coming off back-to-back campaigns at 4-13. Still, they will once again have the luxury of a healthy Kyler Murray in 2024.

After suffering a torn ACL, Murray missed 15 total games throughout the past two seasons. That can be rather discouraging for an undersized quarterback who thrives on his mobility. However, the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner managed 13 all-purpose touchdowns over eight games after returning from injury. In that same span, Murray posted a 65.7% completion clip.

To aid Kyler's efforts, Arizona recently drafted receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall selection. The 6-foot-4 wideout is considered a generational talent. Of course, with Larry Fitzgerald a few years into retirement, the Cardinals could use a gamechanger on the perimeter.

Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon is looking for real improvements in Year 2. He is considered a defensive-minded coach, but the Cards were lit up for 26.8 PPG last year, which was the NFL's second highest clip. Regardless, if you think AZ can win the division, FanDuel has them at 12-to-1 odds.
