NBA Betting: Will Wemby Record a Quadruple-Double?

Victor Wembanyama has taken the NBA by storm with the San Antonio Spurs this season.

The Rookie of the Year favorite boasts per-game averages of 20.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 3.4 blocks. He already has two triple-doubles this season -- one with points, rebounds, and assists, and another with points, rebounds, and blocks.

He'd join an exclusive group if he pulls it off -- only four players in NBA history have recorded a quadruple-double.

Chicago Bulls big man Nate Thurmond was the first to record a quadruple-double back in 1974. He did so with double-digit points, rebounds, assists, and blocks. Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson also used blocks to rack up their quadruple-doubles. Guard Alvin Robertson was the lone player to do so with steals.

No player has recorded a quadruple-double since Robinson in 1994, but Wembanyama fits the mold.

Wemby has already recorded a triple-double in two different ways, and he was just five assists shy of a quadruple-double in the most recent one. He's finished with at least five blocks and five assists in the same game five separate times. In a February 24th matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers, Wembanyama recorded the NBA's 15th 5x5 game, racking up 27 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks.

Though history isn't on Wemby's side, there isn't a precedent for his combination of size and skill. He's already proven capable of racking up triple-doubles with assists and blocks, so a quadruple-double with both certainly isn't out of the equation.
