Astros' Kyle Tucker (shin) leaves Monday contest
Houston Astros star Kyle Tucker (shin) exited Monday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals after fouling a ball off of his leg.
What It Means
Tucker went down in considerable pain after tipping a foul ball directly into his leg. While he appeared to try to shake it off, he was subsequently removed from the game for a pinch hitter. Hopefully the All-Star outfielder is able to avoid a significant injury and will be able to return without missing too much time as the 26-34 Astros claw their way back into the mix in the AL West.
Tucker has been having an incredible season, recording a .974 OPS across 261 plate appearances with a whopping 19 home runs, 42 runs, 40 RBI, and 9 stolen bases. He's drawn more walks (46) than strikeouts (41) and has already been responsible for 3.5 Wins Above Replacement -- his Silver Slugger-winning 2023 season saw him finish the year with 5.4 WAR, for comparison. His +1000 odds to win the AL MVP award rank fifth-shortest. The Astros would be devastated if he ends up missing significant time.
