MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Wednesday 5/29/24

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers

Shota Imanaga Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-148)
Bryse Wilson to Record 4+ Strikeouts (-400)
Chicago Cubs ML (-146)

Combined Odds: +221

Shota Imanaga has simply been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season for the Chicago Cubs, producing a 3.01 SIERA and 3.12 xFIP through his first nine starts. To go along with his impressive 16.0% swinging-strike rate, Imanaga is ranked in the 96th percentile in chase rate (36.1%), 87th percentile in whiff rate (31.4%), and 80th percentile in strikeout rate (27.8%).

Next up for Imanaga is the Milwaukee Brewers, who are logging the seventh-highest strikeout rate (24.2%) versus southpaws this year. Aside from Imanaga posting seven-plus Ks in five consecutive outings, the Brewers have allowed a starting pitcher to tally seven-plus strikeouts in three straight games.

As for Milwaukee, Bryse Wilson is slated to make his seventh start of the campaign. Wilson is far from being labeled a strikeout artist, but the Cubs are becoming a strikeout-prone squad -- especially against right-handed pitching.

Chicago is currently registering the sixth-highest strikeout rate (24.6%) to righties, and they have posted the fifth-highest strikeout rate (24.9%) throughout May. On the other hand, Wilson has racked up six-plus strikeouts in three of his last five appearances.

Even though Wilson hasn't been dreadful on the bump for the Brewers, we'll take the Cubs to win this game outright with Imanaga on the mound. Imanaga boasts a 5-0 record while Chicago has gone 8-1 in his nine starts thus far.

Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago White Sox

Dalton Varsho to Record 2+ Total Bases (+130)
Toronto Blue Jays Over 4.5 Total Runs (-125)

Combined Odds: +218

Chris Flexen is scheduled to get the nod for the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, which means we want to target the bats of the Toronto Blue Jays. Across nine starts -- and 11 total appearances -- this season, Flexen is permitting a dismal .375 wOBA, .559 SLG, and 2.70 HR/9 to left-handed batters.

Provided those metrics, Daulton Varsho is poised to record two-plus bases at the plate. Even though Varsho is logging just a .328 wOBA and 114 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers, he is posting a .271 ISO with nine of his 10 homers on the season coming against righties.

When it comes to his recent performances, Varsho has tallied two-plus bases in four of his last five outings with three-plus ABs. With Varsho hitting a home run in three of his last eight games, he possesses +400 odds to hit a home run, and FanDuel Research's Tom Vecchio has Varsho listed as one of his favorite players to hit a long ball on Wednesday.

Given Flexen's woes on the mound, we'll also correlate Varsho's total bases with the Blue Jays to score five-plus runs. Along with Flexen giving up three-plus earned runs in each of his last three starts, Toronto has produced five-plus runs in seven of their last 10 contests.

Lastly, Chicago's bullpen is recording the third-worst SIERA (4.20), second-worst WHIP (1.44), and third-worst HR/9 (1.24).

Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies

Jose Ramirez to Record an RBI (-145)
Ryan McMahon to Record an RBI (+140)

Combined Odds: +303

Ahead of yesterday's showdown between the Cleveland Guardians and Colorado Rockies, I went with Jose Ramirez and Ryan McMahon to both record an RBI as one of our favorite SGPs. Both players came through for us on Tuesday, and we'll be running it back on Wednesday with Logan Allen and Ty Blach being the expected starters in the series finale.

Ramirez is raking against southpaws in 2024, posting a .430 wOBA, .311 ISO, and 184 wRC+ when hitting as a righty. Meanwhile, Blach is allowing a .420 wOBA, .573 SLG, and 1.96 WHIP against right-handed hitters in his four starts and seven appearances thus far.

There also isn't many hitters seeing the ball better than Ramirez right now as he's recorded at least one RBI in seven consecutive games, and he's totaled 10 extra-base hits in that span.

McMahon is one of the rare left-handed bats who performs better against same-handed pitching. At the moment, McMahon is notching a .427 wOBA, .227 ISO, and 167 wRC+ versus southpaws, compared to a .342 wOBA, .182 ISO, and 108 wRC+ to right-handed pitchers.

While Allen has been formidable against lefties this year, he is in the 18th percentile in barrel rate (9.7%) and 11th percentile in hard-hit rate (46.0%). In a game that could feature quite a few runs, it's worth noting that Ramirez is being given +300 odds to hit a home run while McMahon is carrying +480 odds in the same market.
